current bgm: Just be Conscious -Hayashibara Megumi [Slayers]

Okay, this is my first time trying one of these things, so let's see if it works.

Anyway, this really isn't going to be a 'diary' of sorts. I suppose I can put whatever rants and crap I want to, but for the most part, this will be random sketchs I do.

I suppose I should explain the meaning behind this mindless sketch here: A new comic studio, Temple Studio, opened recently. A few months back, actually, I think in October. Anyway, I work at a store that's helping to support them as they start out and the head guy/writer/cover artist of the first issue and I were talking during their signing day. Anyway, he and another of his friends were doing a sort of 'round robin' panel drawing and invited me to join them. After a while, or rather, the next day, he and I talked for a while longer and he gave me character designs for the people of their first comic, Blood of Onyx and asked me to do a mini-poster for it. You know, to see if he liked my style, maybe enlist my help on future projects.

So, I figure I'd do a couple sketch-tries of the characters before I did the actual poster. Here we see the two main characters, Trian (top) and his twin brother Onyx (bottom).

They may look a bit odd, but that's because this is a style I haven't used in a while. Mainly because I've been drawing Rock Man characters and I tend to draw them in a more animated style. The main reason I've done a stronger style for this is not only because this is a very masculine comic, but also because I don't want to be the type of girl that can only do soft, elegant lines or have a purely androgenous style. I want to train myself to do both soft and strong drawings at will. And, as you can see, I still need some training. But then, I suppose that's the entire reason I got this.

And please pardon the cut-offs. The paper I drew this on was too big for the scanner.
