Oh... I'm in pain... ><;;
On Fridays I went to my Wushu class, a Chinese martial arts for those of you that don't know. Which I believe would be just about all of you. Anyway, I haven't gone there in the passed two weeks because of work and the holidays, so I was pretty tight. Not good. And we were working on the staff form. Also not good seeing that I live in an apartment and if I tried to work on the staff there, I'd have made some serious dents in the place. So I my arms were hurting and my legs were hurting. And my shoulders. Man, there was this one movement my teacher was absolutely /making/ me get perfect. You get down in a low bow stance, meaning that your right leg, which is the forward leg, is making a 90 degree angle at the knee and your leaning forward with your right hand holding the staff outwards and your left hand out to block. You have to keep your shoulders back, chest open, and your arms, shoulders and staff all have to be in a straight line. It's really uncomfortable when you're not used to it. And my teacher kept making me do it from the beginning to that move, I think it's the 8th move but ever time I do it, she's always paying attention to someone else so I was always holding that position for near a minute each flippin' time she told me to do it.
And then came Saturday. Oh boy. Every first Saturday of the month is the poolie meeting. For those of you that don't know, meaning all of you, I'm joining the Marines and my ship date is currently in August. Originally I got sworn in in August, so don't think it was the 9-11 deal that's making me do this. Don't think that that's making me want to join any more or less. Anyway, all the people waiting to get shipped to boot camp and all the recruiters all get together on that day to do something as a group. The IST, go on base for some reason or other, do the obstacle course, or, in this case, play basketball. Except not only did we play basketball- something I'm not good at -but we also had the option to weight lift, climb the ropes (reminder: this is a /full size/ gym here...) or work the bag. Of course, me and a couple other guys I talk to all like to spar- well, I prefer doing forms, but I don't mind sparing -so we worked the bag for a while. Of course, we didn't know there were bags, so we didn't have anything to wrap our hands in and I still have skid marks on my knuckles from it. Too bad we weren't allowed to kick them, I really wanted to.
So, basically, the next day my legs hurt, my arms hurt, my back hurt, my shoulders hurt, my shins hurt, my stomach hurt, just about the only thing that wasn't sore was my head, but that was quickly remedied by the fact I had a headache when I first woke up.
Oh, and the best part about Sunday? I was /working/! And the best part about that particular Sunday? We had an ANIMEFEST~!
I work at Anime Pavilion and ever other month or so we have an Anime Fest which is like a mini-convention. Just about everything is on sale, we show anime in the back room, we have contests and raffles, our manager is actually there for people to talk to. And this time, just to make things extra /spiffy/ (that's leslie the crack-eminator right there) my boss decided to get out DDR! YES! A bunch of girls screaming and laughing over bad remixes! And then he (my boss) tried to get me and Toby (co-worker) to play it. I didn't want to for three reasons: I can't dance, I have no sense of rythm (the main cause for the first reason) and I was farkin' SORE! I spent all day walking around, getting stuff for people and moving around and being in pain. I told Toby earlier that day that I was hurting so much it hurt to even /sit/ let alone having to bounce around on a little keypad thing. And, guess what, when he finally forced me into doing it, my legs were hurting and trembling so hard I barely got into the middle of the song before I failed. Ah well.
Jeez, I'm really rambling today. Oh well.
Today's picture comes from an original character. My original character to be exact. I have a mild idea for a part historic part mythological Korean-based series to be called Tangun. You see, Tangun is considered to be the 'father' of Korea. He united the land, created the first large city and the land prospered under his rule. So I have it that Tangun in a decendant of a god and the bear-lady (it's a folk tale about a bear and a tiger that wanted to become human) and has the ability to turn into a bear under extreme circumstances. Anyway, Tangun asks his father- who basically governs the entire world while /his/ father maintaines the universe or whatever -if he can help him out. So his father (can't remember his name at the moment) pulls his influence out of Chosun (korea) and lets his son try to unit it using the help of three other powerful demi-gods, Bae, the earl of winds, Seong-Tae, the master of rain, and Tae-Seon, the master of clouds. This picture is actually of Tae-Seon, just a basic picture to try and flesh her out. I think I like how she looks. The typical long black hair all pulled back into a braid, she's really rather cold and passionless, but when she writes... man, look out. She's found as a handmaid and a calligrapher in a small village and is a master at illusions, but her wish is to become a writer because it's the only way for her to really express herself.
Tae-Seon
Rather plain, I suppose, but this isn't one of those flashy things. Sure it has metaphysical abilities and (hopefully) kick-ass fighting in it, but it's not going to be known for its super hot characters.
Damn... if only I could find a page that has decent pictures of really old Korean clothing...
